I am glad to personally inform you about our organization, WBF-Turkey`s next annual international championship in Istanbul, 2012 International Istanbul Open Backgammon Championship, which will be the first step for Worldwide Backgammon Federation`s Golden Circuit in 2012. In this big championship, we will be honoured to welcome you too between approximately 100 players from many different countries including well known backgammon masters as well.

ABA 3. Backgammon-Qualifikationsturnier, rezultati

Er kam, sah und siegte!

Nach über einjähriger Backgammonpause trat Franz Noll gestärkt und motiviert wieder bei einem ABA-Turnier an um sich mit den stärksten in der Szene zu messen. Das Ergebnis war niederschmetternd - und zwar für die stärksten der Szene. Souverän fuhr er Sieg um Sieg ein und ließ sich weder im Halbfinale von Christa Groll, noch im Finale von Mario Lazzer stoppen.

Auch in der Consolution ging es spannend und heiß zu. Der amtierende Staatsmeister Steffi Parlow musste sich dennoch, nach packender Aufholjagd, im Finale der groß aufspielenden Anita Schlosser geschlagen geben.

Tommy Köb befreit sich langsam, aber stetig aus seinem Tief. Den Erfolg seines komplexen und höchst sensiblem Spielstils spürte im Finale der Last Chance auch Alex Reichel eindrucksvoll.

Auch diesmal kamen wieder internationale Gäste und durften die Stärke der österreichischen Backgammonszene am eigenen Leibe spüren. Beim gemütlichen Beisammensein fanden wieder einige nette Chouetten bis in die frühen Morgenstunden statt.

Wir gratulieren den Gewinnern recht herzlich, bedanken uns bei allen Teilnehmern und freuen uns bereits jetzt auf ein Wiedersehen, spätestens am 26. November, wenn es wieder heisst: "...lasset die Würfel rollen"

Heiß her gings bei unserem 2. Ranglistenturnier in dieser Saison.

Der Präsident Alex Reichel rief und Spieler aus aller Welt (darunter auch Südafrika!) kamen um bei unserem Turnier dabei zu sein. Es war wieder mal ein Turnier voll gespickt mit Überraschungen und Emotionen - rundum ein Turnier, dass keinem kalt ließ und in dem Peter Urbantschitsch als einziger die Übersicht bewahrte, da er sich in einem spannendem Finale (eigentlich wars ein wahrer Krimi) gegen unseren Präsidenten Alex Reichel durchsetzte und sich so den Sieg des 2. Ranglistenturnier krallte.

Auch die Consolation war hart umkämpft, aber ein verbissener Helmut Gerdenits rangelte sich dort bis ins Finale und besiegte unseren Neuling Herrn Tabachnik. Hut ab auch vor dieser Leistung. In seinem erst zweiten ABA Turnier gleich ins Finale - der Mann hat jetzt schon gute Chancen auf den Titel des Newcomers der Saison.

Tja nun blieb nur noch die Last Chance - und die schnappte sich wieder mal unser "König der Last Chance" Leopold Dercsaly. Ein wahrer Meister der Last Chance und offensichtlich sein absoluter Lieblingsbewerb.

Abschließend gabs, bei guter Unterhaltung, eine fröhliche After-Hour-Chouette, bei der bis in die Nacht rein gespielt wurde. Rundum ein gelungener Samstag und wir freuen uns jetzt schon auf das 3. Turnier am 5. November.

IMPORTANT NOTES

No clocks will be used during the tournament,
except in case of big delay on the tournament matches.
The draw is manual (not computerized), public and random.The Tournament matches take precedence over all other forms of play.
Only cash payment is accepted.
The Tournament Committee reserves the right to refuse application to play and/or forbid admittance without giving any reason
since the Tournament is by WBF invitation only.
Should a player wish to leave the playing area during the Tournament,
he/she must inform the Tournament Director.
Failure to do so may results in penalty points being given.The daily break for dinner is between 19:30 and 21:30.
No smoking in the main playing room.
Tournament seating will be determined by non-smoker preference.
The Tournament will be played on the
professional Rizzello & Romagnoli Tournament Boards.

Dice service is provided by the WBF Point Rizzello & Romagnoli.The WBF Point Pro-shop will be open during the tournament.
Discount for 2011 WBF supporters.
No admittance without proper dress.
Admission to Casino with photo ID Card only.
Only persons with legal age may enter
the Casino (18 or older).
The trophies will be presented only during the Awarding Ceremony.

it is a pleasure for us to invite you to the upcoming 20th MITTELEUROPA BACKGAMMON CHAMPIONSHIP, scheduled at the Grand Casino Baden (Im Kurpark – Kaiser-Franz-Ring 1 – Baden bei Wien - Austria - www.baden.casinos.at) from 31st August till 4th September, 2011 (main event 2nd, 3rd and 4th September, 2011). It's the traditional tournament scheduled early September in the heart of Mitteleuropa: Baden bei Wien! One of the best casinos in Austria!

    These are the main points of the schedule:
    * 100% of all entry fees will be returned to the players;

    * Time clocks will not be used during this event, except when a specific match is unduly delaying the tournament. However, by mutual agreement both players may use a clock;

18/21 August, 2011 – BACKGAMMON ON THE BEACH 2010 – Grado Beach (Gorizia – Italy).
Where: Grado Beach (Gorizia, Italy)
Backgammon On The Beach is traditionally held at the principal beach of Grado, Italy the first weekend after 15th August. Events include two days of lessons (18th and 19th August), the Isola d’Oro Tournament (20th August), and the Friuli Venezia-Giulia Championship (21st August).
The tournaments are free-of-charge, but a donation of 10 Euros is greatly appreciated to cover organizational costs. Dear Backgammon fan,

it is a pleasure for us to invite you to the upcoming 2nd MENTON BACKGAMMON OPEN, scheduled at the Casino Barrière de Menton (Av. Félix Faure – Menton – France - www.lucienbarriere.com) from 6th till 10th July, 2010 (main event 8th, 9th and 10th July, 2011). It's the traditional tournament before Monte-Carlo!
    In addition we scheduled 4 Backgammon days from Monday 11th till Thursday 14th July, 2011 waiting for the Monte-Carlo event. In Menton every day jackpots and super-jackpot.

       These are the main points of the schedule:

    * it is the  traditional tournament scheduled before the Monte-Carlo event;

    * no clocks  will be used during the tournament, except in case of big delay on the  tournament matches;

    * the draw is  manual (not computerized), public and random;

    * 100% of all  entry will be returned to the players;

    * the  tournament will be played on professional Rizzello & Romagnoli Tournament  Boards;

    * last year's paid money-prize 19.960 euro;

    * we'll start on Wednesday 6th July, 2011 with the first part of the Warm-up (free-of charge - for registered players only), the first part of the R&R Trophy (free-of-charge - for WBF supporters only), the Quarter Entries, the One Point Matches, the Jackpots and the first Cocktail;

    * on Thursday 7th July, 2011 we will have the second part of the Warm-up (free-of charge - for registered players only), the second part of the R&R Trophy (free-of-charge - for WBF supporters only) and the 2nd MENTON DOUBLES CONSULTING TOURNAMENT, starting at 21:00;

    * on Friday 8th July, 2011 we will have the Welcome Cocktail and will start the Main Tournament;

    * on Saturday 9th July, 2011 are scheduled Main and Progressive Consolation Tournaments, the Ladies Tournament and the Super-Jackpot;

    * on Sunday 10th July, 2011 we will have the Finals, the Last Chance Tournament and the Casino Menton Cocktail Party with the Awarding Ceremony.
